How VP Mike Pence is Quietly Advancing the Conservative Agenda

With all of the meaty drama taking up airtime in this political season, it can be easy to forget the people who are actually making things happen behind the scenes.

The Office of the Vice President has always been one of quiet dignity. Mike Pence has embodied the spirit of this position, using his platform only to speak up on pertinent issues. The judicious use of his platform has people looking to him for a possible run on the presidency in 2024 — he is a stalwart representative of conservative values as well as a great spokesman of the same.

Most recently, Pence used his talents to support President Donald Trump’s recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. At the time, the president was facing a great deal of scrutiny from many diplomatic and intelligence officials, and even many conservatives were uneasy about forcefully supporting this very important and controversial move. Many insiders say that it was also Pence who convinced Trump to publicly make the move. As a deeply religious conservative, Pence has certainly made his bones supporting issues like this. It is not hard to believe this might be the case.

Overall, Pence has been one of the most effective Trump administrators in advancing goals of policy, both his own and those of the administration.

In the mainstream media, Pence continues to be ridiculed for his public subservience to President Trump. What exactly is the vice president supposed to be if not slightly obsequious? However, even Pence’s harshest critics should not have an answer to the fact that Pence is actually helping to control policy. Pence is actually described with a great deal of backroom influence.

The Jerusalem deal has strengthened the bond between the Trump administration and many donors, lawmakers and conservative activists. Pence is actually quite the darling of traditional conservatives, although he may have some work to do with the more mainstream Republicans. He remains to the right of the mainstream on many key social issues — especially religious freedom. He is also against abortion, supports business deregulation and wants to shrink, not grow, the size of government.

People tend to forget that Pence is also a master strategist. He was chosen as Trump’s VP during the election because of his ability to be a wartime consigliere. Pence headed up the transition team, managing to impress even Trump. Pence also set the stage for a more conservative domestic policy down the road on social issues, placing anti-abortion advocates in key positions at the HHS.

The vice president also helped to reinstate the “policy of Mexico City,” a rule that forces NGOs that are taking funding from the United States to reject abortions. This was a policy that Trump expanded, so that it now covers the majority of companies that receive outreach from the US. This is $8 billion that is basically going to anti-abortion efforts around the world.

Pence is supporting Christians in the Middle East, a true minority group in the area that is being bullied around the clock. He is currently advocating a restructuring of support away from the United Nations to USAID to direct more resources there. In response to Pence’s efforts, USAID has begun efforts to move at least $5 million to address the needs of those Christians as well as protect them in Iraq.

Those lovely tax cuts that Trump passed not so long ago are also partly the work of VP Pence. He was the catalyst for bringing various conservative groups to the table, ensuring that everyone was getting a piece of the pie so they could agree and fully get behind the political effort.

Although Pence is central to many efforts, insiders say that he is not jockeying for power behind the scenes. This mild mannered approach may not seem like a cutthroat politician who is looking out for number one. No alternative personal agenda – are you kidding? However, it is this kind of selfless talent that conservatives need to use the Trump years to solidify policies that will last.

Lastly, Pence is a great counter to the often erratic actions of President Trump. His loyalty allows the president to take more risks. Despite the drama, we should not forget the efforts of a man who is helping to make America great again.

    • Excellent idea. Lets keep the MAGA “movement” going…… I wonder…Can TRUMP be HIS VP??? THAT would make the liberals heads REALLY explode!

  1. All responsible U.S. Citizens love and support VP Mike Pence, who is doing a GREAT job. Pence 2024! MAGA!

  2. V-president Pence…He will be remembered as one of the greatest vice presidents of our time….And on to the Presidency. Yes, he seems to be in the shadow of President Trump, but when we look at the things he has accomplished, he is a super person. Pres. Trump did well by selecting him as his political partner. He is loyal to the president and his wife AND the USA. As I look back on the vice presidents of my time, most of them barely talked with the president, had little influence in national matters and stayed in their offices. I look at what LBJ did when he was put into the oval office…more Veit Nam, the great society and many questionable actions. I look at Agnew, and see nothing but corruption, I look at potatoe man and he personified all past VPs. My GOD, look what Gore dumped on us. From a co-authored Scientific America story about the birth of the internet to predicting the end of the world. Chicken little comes to mind. And so it goes. President Trump did the country a good thing by getting VP Pence to help him drain the swamp. MAGA

  3. Mr Pence has been a model of decorum and effectiveness. The hatred expressed by extreme lefties in the recent “women’s march” (in quotes because few of them were Women) speaks to his strong leadership. Thank God!

  4. I met the VP at his rally in Pensacola, just before the election. I even got to shake hands with him and we shared a few words. I told Mr Pence about who’s hand I shook years before, and my 100% Irish mother belief in Irish folklore especially about luck. I had noticed that his eyes focused on the ( Katrina 10 Remembrance ) logo on my shirt, and I read the look on his face as “who on earth would want to remember Katrina ten years later” I could tell from that brief encounter that he genuinely cares about others. That was the only time I met Me Pence in person, but seeing him on TV many times assures me that my first impression of him was correct. Someone that doesn’t care for others will quickly give you the bums rush if you try to bring up a subject that they aren’t interested in.

  5. I feel that VP Pence is a great person and that his calmness can help settle President Trump a little. It is great to see how well they work together, because that is what it was going to take to fix the mess this country was in. When Dr. Carson dropped out of the Presidential race he said that he was going with Trump because he would listen, and he does. Then during the debates I told him about my mom and I watching the Humphrey/Musky -Nixon debate and that all Nixon said was I and Humphrey said we, and that is what we needed for them to be able to work together.
