Let’s be clear – we are no fans of Joseph Crowley. The multiterm incumbent was defeated handily in New York by upstart Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the political Cinderella story of the decade.
Or is it?
Ocasio-Cortez won her election by taking advantage of the left’s obsession with intersectionality. She used her status as a non-white daughter of immigrant “types” to form a bond with these voters. Her upbringing, however, is nothing like her political ads suggest.
Ocasio-Cortez’s father was actually a well-to-do architect who bought a home in Yorktown, one of the more expensive neighborhoods in New York. Cortez herself attended school in this district, growing up around upper middle class people. She is not the working class, salt of the earth individual she claims to be.
She has also had political ambitions since she was a child. Who told the news media this little tidbit? None other than her mother. So when Ocasio-Cortez says in her ads and interviews that “she never wanted to run,” that is another lie.
You can’t expect much from the electorate in the district that Ocasio-Cortez actually won. Only 28% of the people in that space vote anyway. Ocasio-Cortez said as much in an interview on MSNBC. All that you have to do is turn a few heads, and you can get a complete upset, which is what happened.
This does not mean that the Democratic Party is changing. It means that the party is imploding.
Democrats actually think that a few thousand votes in a district with less than 30% voter turnout means a shift in the party. No, you are still the same loudmouth do-nothing parasites that you always were. Case in point — Ocasio-Cortez took complete advantage of her racial background to create some rags-to-slightly-better-rags story and get the vote of a few first or second generation immigrants.
Honestly, Crowley should ask for a recount to ensure that everyone who voted is legal. Oh wait — Democrats completely shunned the notion of voter mis-registration. Well, hopefully he has something else lined up!
Because mainstream media has latched onto the Ocasio-Cortez story, she will probably win in the general. Will this mean better circumstances for the immigrants who are currently there? No. If she gets everything that she wants, she will vote to flood New York with more unskilled labor. Simple supply and demand takes over from here. More unskilled workers equals lower pay for everyone. No one gets out of poverty, and no one gets to buy a house in Yorktown for their kids.
Ocasio-Cortez is basically ensuring that there will not be a second Ocasio-Cortez. This is the game that politicians play, however. They kill their competition in the womb.
Congratulations, Ocasio-Cortez! You have likely assured yourself a long career of doing nothing and making money from media interviews and backdoor deals. As your competition, we actually love it, but those poor immigrants in your district are about to get a rude awakening.

A “new” democrat upset an old democrat in a New York district that is, was, & will still vote democrat, and this is supposed to be something earth shattering. The congressional seat will be filled by a Sanders clone rather than a Clinton clone & the media gushes over it like it’s earth shattering.
Meanwhile Donald Trump is undoing decades of progressive/socialistic systemic failures, some going back nearly fifty years. The EPA hatchet man has taken an axe to that bloated agency & as planned has resigned. The new director will remold it to suit the President. The same thing is happening in the Dept of Education, Commerce, Interior, Agriculture just to name a few.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is barely 27 years old. She has NO experience at much of ANYTHING. Her only work related to politics has been as a “community organizer” — just like a guy named Barack Obama, but HE did his organizing in Chicago, not NYC.
Candidates in that age bracket CAN win, and usually do when their opponents don’t take the challenge they present very seriously. Alexandria O-C beat incumbent Joseph Crowley, who clearly didn’t take HER seriously at ALL: he didn’t campaign, he skipped debates & sent a “stand-in” (a BIG no-no in ANY political campaign: it’s a way of saying: “I know you’ll vote for me, so I don’t HAVE to tell you what I think or even ASK for your votes!” Nobody likes being treated like that!
Yes, the Democrats are THRILLED about her — they JUST VOTED FOR HER, why shouldn’t they be happy! She got 83% of the Dem primary vote.
The 14th District is HEAVILY Democratic, and their candidate usually gets 80+ percent of the vote. There IS a Republican candidate, one Anthony Pappas, but the Republicans in 2016 got something like 15% in that district, so don’t hold out much hope for a Pappas win. (He’ll also be heavily outspent, as Republicans don’t spend — don’t HAVE — much cash to throw around in that district.)
While most members of Congress (the House) are in their 40s or 50s, the Constitution sets a minimum age of just TWENTY-FIVE for membership (30 for Senators) and it’s NOT all that unusual for a member to be elected for the first time while still in his/her 20s. After all, a 25-year-old has usually finished college, and may even have gotten a law or other graduate degree. There’s really no other experience that qualifies an individual to serve in Congress, so “inexperience” is not a problem. Ms. Cortez’s problem isn’t being inexperienced, it’s having political views somewhere to the LEFT of JOSEF STALIN’S. In other words, it’s RADICALISM, not INEXPERIENCE.

NYC is ruled by a different mob than Chicago, but it is the same scenario — a mob trying to get power in politics, just like Kennedy before Bathhouse Barry. If Trump’s Troops from conservative districts stay strong, AO-C will be powerless to spread her treasonous socialist bile. With any luck, she will be so frustrated by her apparent impotence that she won’t seek a second term. Better if she could be defeated in the general election – but given the electorate in that district, that’s not likely.
