Project Mockingbird: The CIA’s Influence on the Media

Since WWI, the US Military and intelligence agencies have been developing capabilities and methodologies, largely in secret, designed for deception on a massive scale. Many of these are understandable and legitimate strategical capabilities for use in war.

However, weapons, capabilities, and programs intended to defeat Communism- in modern times- have been used increasingly against the American public.

In 1981, CIA director William Casey, in a meeting with President Reagan, was quoted as saying, “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”

Here, we will discuss two programs intended to deceive the American people. The first, Operation Northwoods- clearly the most sinister- was never carried out, but illustrates the cynicism and secrecy that exists in the shadows of power. The second, Project Mockingbird, which is still in effect today- and is being used to push for war with Russia.

Operation Northwoods

In 1962, the Military and joint chiefs of staff presented a plan to President Kennedy entitled, Operation Northwoods. This was a detailed plan to stage false flag attacks from Cuba to justify military action against the small communist nation.

The document was made public in 1997 and has forever blown the cover off of our government’s willingness and ability to engage in violent and deceptive military actions for the purpose of instantiating a cause for war and to curtail the freedoms of Americans.

But it did more than that. The plan called for disguising US military and civilian aircraft as Soviet “Migs,” and constructing new planes made to resemble foreign designs within the span of a few months. The plan called for deploying full-sized remote-controlled versions of military aircraft that can be flown and detonated remotely.

Even more amazing, it called for certain non-remote control planes to be converted to remote control in the field- in the midst of a larger operation. These are capabilities that we are not meant to believe existed before Obama’s unconscionable drone war.

The plan also called for the manipulation of commercial airline pilots messages to their passengers, it called for the manipulation of news outlets and radio stations to report staged Cuban attacks in the desired way. It called for attacks on US military bases and civilians in Florida and the Gulf Coast area using “friendly” Cubans to create a “terror campaign.”

Most shocking is the confidence with which it called for all of these things. There was no talk of developing these capabilities or influences- it spoke only of using them. There were no contingent plans for failure, as they had every expectation of succeeding in fooling Americans and the international community into believing that Cuba had attacked the US- when it had not.

This high degree of confidence indicates that these capabilities and influences had been in development and practice for some time- and technologies like these would have required an enormous amount of research and development to deploy with confidence. The implications are sufficient to shatter the worldview of the average citizen.

President Kennedy refused to sign off on this plan. Since then, no such plan has ever again been presented to the Commander in Chief- that we know of.

Project Mockingbird

Again, in 1962, the CIA was caught spying on American journalists. The intelligence agency was forced to explain itself and delivered a document which claimed that the journalists on whom the agency was spying had somehow accessed classified documents and were reporting on them to the public. This was used to justify the massive spying infrastructure they had built to monitor journalists which had been discovered and had to be explained away.

But the truth is that the CIA had agents who had become paid employees of numerous news organizations across the nation- and indeed all over the world. Their goal; to influence the public perception of world events. Today, we know that major news anchors from Ted Koppel to Anderson Cooper have been on the CIA’s payrolls.

The Russian Hacking Deception

Today, we are being told that 17 intelligence agencies have proof that Russia hacked the DNC and influenced the election. President Obama and the UN is amassing troops and missile batteries on the western border of Russia.

Democrats are bent on war with Russia- yet they will not show us the proof of Russian hacking – or even tell us anything about the nature of the evidence. We are expected to listen and believe, like members of a religious cult. The same intelligence agencies that said the proof of WMD’s in Iraq was solid are now pushing for war with Russia—a war that is likely to go nuclear.

This is the fight of our time, and the President-Elect will need our full support to stop this bloodthirsty agenda.
