Chick-Fil-A Shamefully Buckles to Liberal Pressure

One of the nation’s most popular fast-food chains finally buckled under constant pressure brought by LGBTQ and anti-Christian protestors. Chick-fil-A will no longer donate to non-profit organizations such as the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes in an effort to end the aggressive protests and attempts to ban the eateries.

Liberal and secular activists across the country have been on a mission to upend the growing fast-food chain. Physical protests to deter patrons and media bashing have done little to curb enthusiasm for Chick-fil-A’s popular chicken and fried food menu. Most stores enjoy long lines and swelling profits despite the sometimes despicable efforts to hurt the privately-owned Christian businesses. Criticisms have ranged from not opening on Sundays to being anti-gay. These and other attempts to smear the chain restaurant company have roundly failed to have any impact.

But political activists in the LGBTQ community took their fight to government agencies. In San Antonio, Texas, and Buffalo, N.Y., they coerced officials to openly discriminate against Chick-fil-A being included in airport concession areas. So overt was the discrimination against the Christian food company that the agency overseeing the San Antonio airport voted to expand concession under the expressed conditions Chick-fil-A be excluded. Needless to say, the company sued.

The attack appears to be a backdoor way to cut off funding for Christian-based programs. Chick-fil-A has consistently donated profits to organizations that do good works within communities. Although the Salvation Army and other non-profits that Chick-fil-A donated to are not under fire for discriminatory practices, being Christian was enough to treat them with bigotry. Leaders at the fast-food giant appear to be putting profits ahead of their Christian faith.

“Our goal is to donate to the most effective organizations in the areas of education, homelessness, and hunger. No organization will be excluded from future consideration — faith-based or non-faith based,” Chick-fil-A COO Tim Tassopoulos said. “There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are. There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

In 2018, Chick-fil-A donated approximately $115,000 to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program that delivered 11,000 gifts to low-income children during the holiday season. The Atlanta-based corporation also donated upwards of $1.65 million to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The Fellowship works with at-risk youths to offer summer sports camps at the country’s historically black colleges and universities (HCBU).

Ranked as the nation’s third-largest fast-food chain, the organization states it is further a mission “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.” Pulling donations from Christian charities such as the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes hardly qualifies as promoting a “positive influence.” The move smells of cowering to anti-Christian forces in the name of corporate greed.

The company is currently attempting to appease the secular LGBTQ crowd by shifting its charitable donations to Junior Achievement, Covenant House International, and local food banks. An estimated $9 million is expected to be doled out by the Chick-fil-A Foundation to such causes in 2020.

But Chick-fil-A may not be able to buy peace from anti-Christian forces as easily as dropping a few of the left’s high-profile targets. On the heels of COO Tassopoulos’ announcement, gay activists at GLAAD are already sharpening their rhetoric in what may prove to be another wave of attacks.

“In addition to refraining from financially supporting anti-LGBTQ organizations, Chick-fil-A still lacks policies to ensure safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and should unequivocally speak out against the anti-LGBTQ reputation that their brand represents,” GLAAD campaign director Drew Anderson reportedly said.

Supporters recently took to social media denouncing the policy change, and many Christians plan to curb their patronage. High-profile Christian voices such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee were among them.

“In Aug 2012, I coordinated a national @ChickfilA Appreciation Day after they were being bullied by militant hate groups,” Huckabee tweeted. “Millions showed up. Today, @ChickfilA betrayed loyal customers for $$. I regret believing they would stay true to convictions of founder Truett Cathey. Sad.”

In all estimations, Chick-fil-A’s current leaders made a calculated misstep both as Christians and business decision-makers. Secular organizations have no intention of letting up until every Christian business and church is closed.

  1. I’m so very disappointed in this company, to say the least, and shocked! Jesus Christ already won the spiritual battle for us, and he has given us everything we need to conquer sin in our lives. He paid a dear price so that true Christians would not give in to satanic forces. I guess when it comes down to it, often times the love of money is the root of all evil, as Jesus himself said. It seems to be all about money or sex in this world.
Giving into the LGBT, or whatever it’s called, is like dancing with rattlesnakes thinking you’re not going to get bitten, total deception. however, I think we do need to pray for the owner or owners of Chick-fil-A, they have made a very sad and sinful decision at this point in time.

    • This is horrible I never thought that Chick-Fil-A would ever knuckle under because of their strong Christian beliefs. Good always trumps Evil. These evil people will never win. In the long run all of these sick atheists will get theirs. They will meet their maker, he will have the last say. Their time will come. KARMA!

  2. Dance with the devil and you lose your legs eventually. This restaurant turned its back on people that helped prosper it. What a shame. They need to repent a stand up to evil that wants to take them down. Your business decisions show the world what you really are. Better rethink your new value system.

  3. I wasn’t crazy about their chicken sandwich to begin with, but I went to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast as I thought a lot of the company. I now have no reason to go. Just when they’re building a new Chick-Fil-A in my town – how sad for the new franchisees. A lot of their support just vanished because of a bunch of weak-kneed “executives”. It’s too late to take it back.

  4. We. Can look at this in 2 ways. If they go out of business, how can they support any worthy organization at all. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt folks. Let those without sin or mistakes throw the first stone. I would imagine many of us have compromised on some things. I believe we shall get the same quality of food, service, and they will treat their employees with trust and respect. My hope is that we will not choose to open on Sunday. God bless them

    • The Company has done more damage with it’s reversal of position on the gay activism issue than the good it will do with future contributions to good causes. In matters of principle, you either stand up for what’s right or you aid the evil. There is no middle ground of merit.

      • Agreed. I liked their product, then I LOVED their stance. Now, there is no reversing course. I’ll not spend my money there again. Ever.

I don’t know what lunacy drove this decision of theirs, but it will destroy them as a Company. What made them think that ANYTHING they did to appease the “left” would bring them more business?!? The “left” are haters and nothing is going to change that – they will NOT support this Restaurant, no matter what.

2nd or 3rd (with a Bullet) most successful Fast Food Restaurant wasn’t good enough for them? What possessed them to think they will GAIN customers and market position by BETRAYING those who stood up for them???

Those of us who consciously chose to trade BECAUSE of their stance on Family, Morals, and Christianity with Chick-Fil-A now have a decision to make – spend our money with a weak kneed company who CAVED to people who TRULY hate us, or go elsewhere after this unbelievably stupid betrayal. I know where I stand on this topic, and suspect a lot of other people will feel the same way.

I echo the thought that I feel truly sorry for the Franchises, especially the new ones – “Corporate” just screwed you.

        Stupid move Chick-Fil-A, stupid move.

  5. I will not give to Salvation Army because of their shady practices. So perhaps they are rethinking what they give to for other reasons. Unless you are on the board of the company and know their reasoning let them do their business as they see fit. They only have to answer to God. I for one am happy that I don’t have to answer to the Christians because it appears they are the most critical of all people. Put your claws in people and love one another. Support them and lift them up in prayer for God to speak to them about what He wants them to do.

  6. So disappointed in Chik-fi-la. Your values are echoed in millions of faithful Christians world wide. Why would you cave this way?

  7. I this is great news. Congratulations Chick-fil-A. I am a churchgoing Christian. Catch I am so happy to hear that Chick-fil-A is finally standing up against hate groups! I haven’t had a good chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A in years. Now that Chick-fil-A has decided to behave like Jesus would, I will now come back to Chick-fil-A and support them and have a delicious chicken sandwich. Millions of Christians like me will now do the same! Chick-fil-A needs to improve their efforts to make all people feel safe as employees and customers but this denouncing of religious extremist hate groups is a wonderful first step!

    • You believe Chick fil a is standing up to hate groups? You are really ill advised! They are folding to hate groups that are anti Christian! You need to read further! They are not doing what Jesus did! He would be tolerant of non Christians but would not turn his back on Christians! This nothing but a bottom line for Chick fil a! However, the will lose true Christians because the are backing off their faith! My Christian Faith is to reach out to all people but not become part of the anti Christian Groups! I go to a fairly liberal church! They agree that Chick fil a has lost their Christian Faith by folding! Jesus Christ died for not denouncing God! I will no longer eat at their store!

  8. How could you stoop to the lowly gutter of mankind demands. Cut donations to Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes .Both of which supported our youth. Guess you all think gays are better, I can only think of you as a pile of cow shit. We’ll see how much support the humane trash gives you. Me I’ll never walk through your doors again. I HAVE TO MUCH RESPECT FOR GOD

    • GOD LOVES AND SUPPORTS ALL PEOPLE! Even those people you as a “good Christian” call “cow shit”! NOT SOMETHING JESUS would say! LGBT people and other minority groups are NOT HATE GROUPS. They want love and respect. They shop at stores that promote Love and Respect for ALL PEOPLE. They don’t denounce religion. You are living in a bubble. Remember, those you hate maybe someone you love… ❤️

  9. So that mean there will be no donations to Muslim organizations also. They execute people g for being gay, and women are treated as second class citizens. This PC crap o is out of control and needs to be squelched

  10. I do believe Chck-fil-a will no longer hold the margin of success it enjoys! What would Jesus Christ do with similar
circumstances? Sometimes it is “Leadership” that destroys a well run organization and the name brand soon
diminishes it’s image. Guess the morals of the company wasn’t what seem to be. Wrong never makes things right!

    • We don’t have to guess what Jesus would do. He threw the money changers out of the temple. Religion and what is right is more important than making more money and expanding a business. The Company chose money over principle.

  11. I had dinner one night at Truett‘s Café that I’ve been remodeled I walked into the high school cafeteria that’s what it look like atmosphere totally gone or chicken no bread some green beans and macaroni and cheese with a couple of cornbread muffins all of it was great exceptThe green means had too much vinegar and the macaroni and cheese was so dry it out when I brought up the attention of the waitress she only proceeded to take it off the bill I paid for the chicken and the muffins that not one manager approached me about my bill To me that is just plum shameful

  12. I posted a post on Chic Fil A’s facebook page yesterday and here is what I said as best as I can restate it. I have always admired Chic Fil A for its stand about closing on Sundays and Christian and family values. I had tremendous respect for Founder Truett Cathy. I have heard his son state many times about how they intended to be true to these principals. So you can imagine how saddened to hear of their decision to withdraw support from Salvation Army and the FCA etc. #1 It is is extremely hypocritical for anyone to a stand on something like closing on Sundays and other Christian Values and then compromise on something else. Also the Bible plainly states that the things that LGBT stands for are a sin as many other things are, as Christians we are to condemn the sin not the sinner and I totally agree that we are to love the sinner but, that does not mean condone or promote that sin. #2 I have never seen or heard where Chic Fil A refused service or employment to anyone LGBT nor does Salvation Army or FCA. #3 In addition they are caving to a segment of the population that composes by my last count about 3% of the population which offending about 70% of the other 97% of the population.#4 This is not going satisfy them it is just to stiffen their resolve. #5 Lastly it is sad to see them go the way of so many corporations and put dollars before principals. As my Father used to say you have to stand for something or you will fal for anything. I just hate to see a great Company with a great legacy go this way. I for one am done with Chic Fil A unless they rethink their decision.

  13. Im ashamed of them they suppose to be a Christian organization we don’t back out off the Jesus teachings think about it if the owner must be turning in his grave

  14. I hope it’s not true. I’ll wait and see before abandoning them. Respond Chick fil a. Tell me it isn’t so. I will withhold judgement if you will respond. Please don’t cave. Don’t give in to the world.

  15. I am a long time supporter of Chick FIl A but no more. You have crossed the line and I am disgusted and disappointed in your decision. Yesterday morning my wife and I were at a breakfast with a large group and were surprised at the adverse reaction to your decision. I feel sorry for the outstanding young people that work in your restauranys.

  16. we will never eat there again. food was so so but not as good as other chains.
when will they learn we eat there for food, not their politics. hope they go bankrupt .

  17. I do admire the organization for the great example they have been in the past. I pray they will continue to uphold Godly values in the future. All Christians need to be bold and express our support of these values. Pray for each other that we all remain strong .

  18. Don’t give-in to this anti-christian group, it will only bring more demands from them in the near future & you will lose even more of
your loyal customers. Don’t fool yourself, if we do not stand our ground against hate groups like this one & democrats that have now turned communist, then this country will without a doubt go to hell.

  19. Once you start giving in to these kinds of demands they will never stop demanding more until all Christians have denounced their faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

  20. Chick-Fil-A has always been my first choice when stopping for fast food because of their Christian values. I am broken-hearted at their betrayal, but take comfort in the knowledge that GOD is always the victor. Please add me to the list of never going there again patrons.

  21. It saddens me for the choice Chick-Fil-A has made….to stop giving to nonprofits who rely so heavily on their donations. Salvation Army and other do so much good and money doesn’t go to high paid execs but to the folks that need help.
So interesting that 3% can have so much control over 97% of population……they are louder, more organized and perhaps we need to do more by supporting all those who do stand up for Jesus Christ. I just wrote check to Salvation Army…..so the money you would have spent at CFA send to faith based organization. They need the help.
    God Bless America!

  22. I believe Chic fil a will regret this move! To drop Christian donations because of pressure shames the death of Christ! I want all people treated fairly as a christian, but your values are to teach people that values have to be taught! You don’t down sinners or those that don’t have your Christian beliefs but you don’t do anything against Christian organizations to appease non Christians. You at an example Cjc fil a!! If you change to keep customers, you are sinning worst than those that don’t know they are sinning! You will be held to a higher sin when you hurt Christians. Invite LGBT & other naysayers in, but as a Christian organization not a bow down from your beliefs!

  23. We used to go to chick-fil-a regularly but since they are abandoning the Christian values that attracted a lot of their customers we’ll be going somewhere else. Let’s see if the LGBTs can make up the difference in their business that this will cause them to lose.

  24. I am beyond disappointed with Chick Fil A. They are caving into the left’s demands which is why our country is losing its morals both spiritually and politically. Christian beliefs are slipping to the point that someday we there will be no more Christianity. What ever happened to standing up for our values and principles? Chick Fil A ‘s siding with a minority over the majority has done great damage to those who believe in Christian values. They have virtually admitted their guilt over faithfulness to God.

  25. What a disgusting shame when the MINORITY can successfully rule the majority in America. If this liberalism isn’t stopped, or at least checked, it will be our downfall. God help us……..PLEASE!!

  26. Chick Fil A was a Godly beacon of light standing firm in a world of ungodly agendas. Now they have caved to the evil empire’s demands and rejected the Godly principles they were founded on. They have betrayed the very people they depended on to build their up now successful franchise upon. This betrayal will not bode well for you. Shame.

  27. Very disappointed, would like to believe it is a rumor but I guess it isn’t.

All you angry people should do the right thing and pray for the officials at Chic-fil-A instead of the non Christian remarks I have been reading about them.

  28. I had friends who knew Truett and if he was alive today this would not be happening. What next The Rock Ranch about 50 miles from Atlanta are they going to get away from helping kids learn and have fun at this place in the country and turn it in to The Rainbow Ranch. When people going against Truett Cathy’s hard work and Christian beliefs all for the sake of the all mighty Dollar when their time comes to leave this world they will have to answer for what they done. Christian Athletes who endure more than the Gay Groups will suffer the most, it hard enough being a Christian Athlete without the support they received from Truett Cathy and his Companies. It’s a SAD World when people can make a living from Protesting a Church or Christian

  29. the heck with the gay agenda folks.. This Christ based company should NEVER give into the gay/lesbian agenda forced on Americans and Christians.. they are a small % of America and have talked how tolerant they are while attacking Christians all over America and attempting to make everyone accept their lifestyle.. Sorry but I stand on God’s Word and what is defines a Marriage as and it is time for America and Christians to take that stand.. They attacked the Christian baker 3 times and now Chick-Fil-A.. Stand up America because while we accept sinners since we are all sinners, we do not accept the sin!

  30. Chick-Fil-A……..You paid respect to LGBT, but ignore you Christians customers…….what a great mistake of
yours……….what your next step will be ?? opening on Sundays ??……well…….Good yt Chick-Fil-A.

  31. I don’t think Chick-fil-a buckled. They are still contributing to organizations that support the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. What this #$#@!! POS lgbtq want is to put Chick-fil-a out of business and as long as there are customers like me it Ain’t gonna happen.

  32. You can never please everyone which is ashame but unfortunately it’s become a way of life. I live an hour from a chick fil a but I go every time I’m in the area. I enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere. Keep God in your heart and continue to help with Christian athletes and the homeless and hungry. The people protesting are anti christ and want God to disappear. Please never compromise your Christian Values.

  33. I want YOU ALL to do a search on this. This IS NOT the WHOLE STORY. After reading the rest of the story I am still supporting Chick-Fil-A. I was agreeing at first to ban but I thought I better check to see what the rest of the story was. I am glad I did.

  34. Good morning. I am very disappointed with your company. I am also glad that there is not one of
your stores in my home town as I would totally boycott now. Of course I will boycott the store in
Erie Pa. now also. Sorry you will NOT see any business from me.

  35. 3 cheers for the Cathy family! You now officially welcome ALL people. BTW, I’ve read several research studies and the LGBT community makes up over 10% of any population. I have gay members in my extended family I love and support. I can now feel the younger members of the Cathy family are truly doing God’s work by welcoming everyone through their doors. Since we’re talking about what Jesus would do; Jesus never said anything about gay people. The word homosexual was added to the bible in the mid 1800s.

  36. Empty headed liberals will never be satisfied till they have shut down all coffee shops, restaurants, etc…….

Looks like those “DO NOTHING” libs are going to starve, go thirsty, and be naked……..

  37. Sorry that you caved. I won’t be buying my thanksgiving and Christmas chicken from you. Enjoyed your food while it lasted.

  38. Chic fil-a I cannot believe that u succumbed to the lib’s demand. Sense when did u start caving to these people. Not only do you sell chickens now you’re going to have to cook up some back bones to feed to your selves.U go from selling chicken to selling spinesless back bones . Good luck with that.

  39. Not too late to resend these bad decisions. Change them and admit a mistake.
If not I will not be attracted to a Chic-Fil-a sandwich like I have been. there are other places to eat.

  40. You need to check up with the internet even about Homosexuality. Just because the word wasn’t used in that time doesn’t mean there weren’t other words that describe homosexuality in the Bible. You are overlooking Sodom and Gomorrah that was corrupt with it and several modern translations even admit that Homosexuality was described in the New testament in Corinthians 6-9. It is there if you really want to find it. Take note Chic-Fit-A !

  41. Oh really Steven B. So were is all their love and RESPECT for those of us who don’t believe the way they do. It is ok for them to target the youth just because they may believe in Faith. Your queers are trash and need to go back in the closet!
