CNN Flops: Even The Food Network, Nickelodeon Top Cable “News” Network

Decision 2018 is in, and Americans deem cartoons and cooking shows more important than CNN.

The once vaunted cable news network that floated the tagline — “The Most Trusted Name in News” — has been in a tailspin ever since switching its format to what Pres. Donald J. Trump calls “fake news.” The liberal-biased media outlet seemed to be riding high before the 2016 elections, claiming then-candidate Trump had no pathway to the White House. But with an omelet’s worth of egg on the network’s face, everyday Americans tuned out in droves.

CNN stars must imagine themselves like Don Quixote, charging the presidential windmill. Epic fail after epic fail has caused what many consider an unprecedented ratings purge in cable news. During the spring, CNN was roundly mocked for its most popular show falling behind Tucker Carlson Tonight — the rerun — and the mindless cartoons shown on Nickelodeon. Apparently, viewers appreciate animated fiction over CNN’s brand of storytelling. Behind all CNN’s viewership wreckage is a president they tried to bring down who now pokes fun at them on social media.

Trump: Art of the “Fake News” Tweet

In a recent Adweek ratings report, CNN got another dose of bad news. Headlines touted Fox News as the most-watched basic cable network for 26 straight weeks. But taking a ratings beat-down from Fox is nothing out of the ordinary for CNN. But falling out of the Top 10, wait, Top 15 entirely in prime time viewership has got to hurt.

Fox topped all comers with 2,006,000 watchers in prime time and continued its hold on the overall No. 1 spot. MSNBC, primarily on the strength of Rachel Maddow Show, held on to No. 3 with 1,342,000 viewers. CNN was downgraded to No. 16 with 669,000. That’s just a tad more than half of Maddow and less than one-third of Fox. But the coup de gras has been the accompanying presidential tweets.

“So funny! I just checked out Fake News CNN, for the first time in a long time (they are dying in the ratings), to see if they covered my takedown yesterday of Jim Acosta (actually a nice guy),” the president tweeted on July 14. “They didn’t! But they did say I already lost in my meeting with Putin. Fake News……”

Another zinger takes aim at CNN chief Jeff Zucker who has orchestrated this fall from American trust.

“Remember, it was Little Jeff Z and his people, who are told exactly what to say, who said I could not win the election in that ‘there was no way to 270’ (over & over again) in the Electoral College. I got 306! They were sooooo wrong in their election coverage. Still hurting!”

Oddly, Zucker was recently rewarded with a contract extension that runs through 2020 for his part in dismantling the network’s news reporting integrity. Other memorable presidential tweets include the following:

“While in the Philippines I was forced to watch @CNN, which I have not done in months, and again realized how bad, and FAKE, it is. Loser!”

“Bad ratings @CNN & @MSNBC got scammed when they covered the anti-Trump Russia rally wall-to-wall. They probably knew it was Fake News but, because it was a rally against me, they pushed it hard anyway. Two really dishonest newscasters, but the public is wise!”

Yes, it seems the general public has gotten wise to the news scams and are tuning out. But the choices of what many Americans would rather watch than CNN stars’ anti-Trump rhetoric raises more than a few eyebrows.

CNN, Food, and SpongeBob SquarePants

According to Nielsen data, total basic cable viewership continues to be dominated by Fox News. It’s no shame to stand in line behind a fact-based reporting network that also features openly conservative-leaning talk shows. After all, Republicans hold majorities in the Senate, U.S. House and have earned the White House. What’s embarrassing for the “Most Trusted Name in News” is the fact that in early July the following networks trounced CNN in daily viewership:

  • Home and Garden TV
  • Food Network
  • Hallmark Movies and Mysteries
  • Nickelodeon

In the 25-54 demographic, CNN found an even greater source for embarrassment. While Fox ranked only 10th in this category, CNN fell back to No. 17 and took a drubbing at the hands of Adult Swim and Comedy Central. Apparently, Anderson Cooper isn’t funny.

The network Pres. Trump so aptly called “Fake News” may want to check its powder before pink slips get handed out. Mass CNN layoffs could soon be a reality TV segment airing on a more-watched network.

  1. Zucker is an idiot with an obscure and apparently ill-logical agenda! I wonder who and what he truly represents? Is he accomplishing what he wants by making CNN one of the least watched networks in modern TV history?

  2. The same will happen to the NFL and the NBA if they don’t drastically change their persona. At present they look like they hate the Flag, the Anthem, the President, and all of law enforcement, and their fans are turning away from them just like they have CNN. Anything is better than these unpatriotic two faced liars. Even a soup line is too good for them!

  3. nobody I know watches fake news any more ,cnn should be delicensed and forgotten some airports are using fox News now .and I travel a bit and I certainly glad that fake news now with Brian spinchter is gone.

  4. The people did not name CNN the Communist news network for no reason, but the problem is here is the people are privy to what they’re up to no so that’s why they’re in the tank I mean the toilet no I’m in the store well whatever they’re nothing but sewer rats anyway!

  5. CNN used to be ‘fair’ …. then they turned hateful.
Tons of Middle-of-the-Road Democrats, like myself, have been disgusted about how ‘angrily-biased’ they became.
Talk to your ‘reasonable Democrat friends” (non-Antifa etal) … we may listen to reasonable discussion and clear facts – and leave the Party most of us no longer recognize.
Many of us have (or will) simply “WalkAway”.

    1. They were never fair, CNN was the brainchild of Ted Turner, a well known leftist, who was once married to “Hanoi” Jane Fonda. Even she couldn’t put up with his far left ideas, and that is really saying something!

  6. In the 1990’s I referred to the station as the ,”Clinton News Network” because everything they put out was slanted in favor of the HillBilly president. Their favorite scam was the, “Lie of omission”, not reporting on anything that was true they thought would tarnish the Dumba$$ o CROOK brand. I haven’t watched even 10 secs. of that stations LIES since, and NEVER will.

  7. Good! I wish I could get my satellite provider to remove CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and all the rest of the hate mongering anti anything Trump.

  8. I know this is off topic, but still…”FACT: The TOP FOUR(4) American BILLIONAIRES are ALL liberal Democrats who hold $335 ($373) BILLION in wealth-Jeff Bezos $112 BILLION (recently upped to $150 BILLION)- Bill Gates $90 BILLION- Mark Zuckerberg $71 BILLION- Warren Buffet $62 BILLION,

FACT: The top FIVE(5) richest districts in America are represented by the liberal Democrat Party.

FACT: EIGHT(8) of the top ten (10) RICHEST districts are represented by the liberal Democrat Party
So it begs the question: Why do I keep reading that it’s the Republican Party who are the Party of the RICH?

  9. You keep reading that Republicans are the party of and for the rich because the democrats are trying to convince their constituents that they will defend the poor from those bad ole rich people by helping them take all that evil money from the rich people. How many of these rich democrats don’t even live in the districts they represent?

They have also kept the black community convinced that they aren’t the same Democratic Party that supported slavery, Jim Crowe, and supported the civil rights movement. Recent developments indicate that their scams are starting to fail… it has taken a while, but the truth seems to be finally coming out..

  10. CNN-Communist news less network. CBS-Communist boadcasting system. NBC- New Bolshevik corporation. ABC-another bolshevick corporation.NPR- Novi Pravda radio.

  11. Good. I hope the business dies altogether. haven’t liked their lying drivel for more years than I care to count.

  12. I flip TV channels a lot and when I watch CNN for a few minutes, then I “puke” and turn the channel!

  13. I didn’t have CNN on my TV’s for over a month and didn’t know it. I get temporarily out will resume as soon as possible will call Cable people tomorrow. I just imagined they were bought out or just went out, as for all intentions they are kapute.
