The “Great Russia Investigation Hoax” perpetrated by Democrats and their complicit fake news media followers came to a screeching halt once the Mueller Report was released. But despite finding no evidence that a member of the Trump Campaign colluded with Russia, liberals suffering Trump Derangement Syndrome such as New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler trolled out Special Counsel Robert Mueller for a last gasp before the impeachment ship went down.
Heading into the 2020 election, the opposition party no longer wants to talk about all things Russian. That’s because presidential hopefuls must now contend with a track record that demonstrates “Probably nobody’s been tougher on Russia than Donald Trump,” the president said.
The biased media have grossly misled everyday Americans that Russian meddling into the 2016 elections has some connection to President Trump. The facts are that President Obama and former V.P. Joe Biden were fully aware that Russian operatives were working to sow the seeds of discord in the U.S. But, Obama and Biden sat on their hands and did absolutely nothing.
It appeared in their best interest to allow Russian interference, believing their candidate — Hillary Clinton — would secure the White House. Reports now indicate the Obama Administration received intelligence warnings as early as 2014. Only after the 2016 election disappointment did Obama expel 35 Russian diplomats. Perhaps Obama believed Russia would help Hillary, based on her corrupt Uranium One deal or that foolish “Russian Reset” publicity stunt as Secretary of State. In response to Russian meddling in American elections, the Trump Administration was quick to level harsh sanctions with teeth.
To recap, the Trump administration did the following:
- Expelled 60 Russian diplomats.
- Directly sanction oligarchs connected to Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin.
- Sanctioned members of the Russia intelligence community.
- Sanctioned Russian entities and individuals for violating nuclear non-proliferation agreements and laws.
- Sanctioned over 100 entities, banks, and individuals for the occupation of the Crimea, which Russia invaded during the Obama Administration.
Unlike the Obama-era reaction of investing the liberal media to push propaganda that the White House was holding firm with tough words while Russian tanks rolled, the Trump Administration’s crackdown has had measurable results.
The Russian Ruble has lost a crisis-level amount of value as investors feared American sanctions for doing business with the adversary. The Ruble has reportedly lost 9 percent of its value against the dollar as of July 2018. The U.S. has blocked a wide range of corporations from partnering with Russian-aligned interests, such as offshore oil, and cut them off from securing high-level funding. The Trump Administration continues to oppose Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline that would garner millions for Russia. The Trump Administration also moved beyond its tremendously successful financial sanction strategies.
“Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria,” President Trump said after Syria’s Assad used chemical weapons on civilians. “Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’”
U.S. forces struck and killed Russian mercenaries backing Assad’s regime, Syrian regulars, crippled a multi-force airbase and eliminated chemical weapons stockpiles. These are other military-oriented policies used to target and isolate Russia until it ceases and desists its bad actions:
- The Trump Administration approved the sale of weapons to Ukraine designed to prevent further Russian military incursions.
- The American military increased its NATO presence in Eastern Europe and ramped up drills designed to defend against Russian military aggression.
- The U.S. Department of Defense increased its European Deterrence Initiative funding by $1.4 billion on a Trump-approved budget.
Of course, everyday Americans are aware that the president took NATO allies to task over their failure to meet financial obligations. Allies have increased their agreed-upon spending since President Trump took office by approximately five percent. Actions against Russia and other bad actors have not been only unilaterally imposed by Trump. Until the Democrats took control of the U.S. House, the GOP-led Congress was instrumental.
In 2017, the president signed the “Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act” into law. The measure provided the president with increased tools to sanction Russia and rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea for cyber-attacks, human rights abuses, and selling weapons to Syria. The most recent action Pres. Trump has taken is to withdraw from the Cold War-era INF treaty after confirming that Russia was violating the agreement during the Obama Administration and continued in recent years.
The days of getting a good Obama scolding in front of the cameras is over. President Trump may be tougher on Russia than even the revered Cold Warrior, Ronald Reagan.
