Rep. Adam Schiff Was Just Hit with an Ethics Complaint

A Republican candidate challenging Rep. Adam Schiff, (D-CA) for his House seat is filing an ethics complaint on him, indicating that when he received a prank call by Russian deejays in 2017, Schiff expressed great eagerness to get “compromising material” on President Trump.

Republican Jon Hollis, a candidate for the Los Angeles-area seat currently held by Schiff, has filed an ethics complaint against the Democrat based on a 2017 phone call from a couple of Russian deejays who pretended to be Ukrainian politicians who claimed to have graphic photos of President Trump – who had just been inaugurated.

In this complaint, dated August 28, 2019, and filed by Jon Hollis, it stated that “This letter serves as an official complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) regarding Rep. Adam Schiff’s illegal collusion with foreign entities and misuse of taxpayer resources for opposition research on political enemies.” Hollis added, “The evidence supporting Adam’s Schiff’s violations of the law is compelling and irrefutable.”

During the phone call from the prankster deejays, Schiff assumed he was talking to Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy, who said he solicited potentially damaging information and compromising pictures of Trump during his visit to the Miss Universe Pageant four years earlier in Russia.

In the phone call, Schiff stressed that he would “be in touch with the FBI” to make arrangements to get access to the photos and other damaging information they described. He also cautioned the “politician” on the phone not to divulge any information that he would not want “our Russian friends” to hear, seeming to warn him that they were listening in on the call.

Schiff, a high-ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee at that time, was not however conversing with a Ukrainian politician, but with the two jokester Russian comedians — Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov.

“It is clear from the recorded phone call that Rep. Schiff knows he should not be trying to obtain opposition research on a political opponent from foreign nationals. He attempts to mask his wrongdoing by, on numerous occasions, mentioning that he will work with the FBI,” Hollis said in his letter. “In so doing, Rep. Schiff is attempting to involve the FBI in his corrupt attempt to obtain dirt on President Trump. The FBI should not be in the business of teaming up with politicians to use the power of government to dig up dirt on political opponents.”

In addition, the conservative nonprofit Tea Party Patriots Action group filed an ethics complaint last week concerning Trump’s “Ukrainian” phone call, “requesting an inquiry into multiple violations of House ethics rules by Schiff,” also alleging that Schiff had “used and abused his position” in the endeavor to “seek damaging and negative information about President Trump.”

Hollis called Schiff’s role in the call with the pranksters a blatant “abuse of power” and alleged that throughout much of President Trump’s first term in office, Schiff has been out to get him. From the Robert Mueller-led probe into whether the Trump campaign “colluded” with the Russians in the 2016 election, to his unacceptable reaction during the phone call with the deejay pranksters, and now the unprecedented impeachment activities, Schiff simply cannot be believed.

“Watching Schiff push a false narrative over and over again with Russia and now with the whistleblower complaint tells us the only thing he cares about is fake investigations,” Hollis told Fox News. “Meanwhile, we have 60,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County, and his district is falling apart.”
