On November 14, 2020 scores of Americans made their way to Washington, D.C. to show their support for President Donald Trump. They came together as a peaceful gathering, bringing with them elderly Trump supporters and their families to gather together in solidarity. It was a day filled with marching and patriotic displays.
Unfortunately, this large gathering was a tempting target for Antifa thugs spurred on by their disapproval of the pro-family, pro-Trump sentiment and fueled by a steady stream of vitriol aimed not only at President Trump — but any who dare to openly support the President. They showed up launching fireworks attacks at restaurant diners who were sitting and enjoying meals with friends and families, attacking an elderly couple, terrifying children, and instigating violence as people attempted to escape the chaos.
The sad truth is few people who listen strictly to mainstream media have heard nothing of these attacks as the media is claiming the videos and reports “lack context.” Greg Gutfeld on Fox’s “The Five” points out the obvious, what could small children have possibly done to justify these types of attacks against them by adults? There is no justification for these types of behavior in civil society, nor is there any excuse for the media to ignore this message.
In fact, the true horror is that the media simply doesn’t want to tell this story. It doesn’t fit the narrative they’re desperately trying to imply that all Trump supporters are evil and can do no right, while those on the left are fighting the good fight for all the right reasons. Among the media who did report the story, it was presented as violence instigated by Trump supporters (again, what did children do to instigate adults attacking and terrorizing them?).
Perhaps it’s something even more insidious at hand as the media attempts to paint some citizens as above reproach and, even more telling, some citizens deserving of the violence committed against them. On the one hand, looting, rioting, burning or cities, attacks on law enforcement committed by the left are peaceful protests while actual people peacefully protesting while being harassed by those on the left are instigators who apparently deserve what they got. As long as the media continues to dehumanize certain groups of people, more will begin to see these marginalized groups as subhuman. We’ve been down that road in history already.
The media certainly seems to be drawing lines in sand and working to further divide a country desperately in need of unity. Perhaps it’s time for the we the people, on all sides of the political aisles, begin holding the media accountable for the division they sow. At the very least, we need to shed a light on their complicity in attacks against peaceful gatherings – even those that do not support the narratives they’re trying to sell the American people.
