Cancel culture continues to rain down upon events in both the USA and the United Kingdom. This new progressive trend is part of left wing culture, and the latest victim is a LGBT pride parade, one that was being run virtually online. The virtual event, which was organized once social distancing and Covid 19 protocols were put into place, was highly anticipated.
Singers, composers and other celebrities were scheduled to attend; the idea behind this virtual event was to create an outlet and a space for those who had intended to attend in person pride evens scheduled for this spring across the UK. As coronavirus swept the nation, all of these events were cancelled, along with most other public gatherings.
The virtual pride event was created to help fill the void left by hundreds of cancelled local events – and it may have for many – if it had not run afoul of leftist cancel culture.
The heavily planned and promoted event came to a crashing halt when activists discovered that the person doing the organizing had a different opinion than they did about Brexit. The organizer had gone so far as to “like” tweets from Nigel Farage and other Brexit supporters, including campaigner for free speech Toby Young.
This was too much for the leftist activists to handle, and demands for the cancellation of the much anticipated LGBT event began to come from all quarters. Organized Charlie Shakespeare is a supporter of Brexit; this was enough for the Labour Party advisor on diversity, Linda Riley, to demand the event be cancelled. Proceeds were intended to go to LBGT non-profits and charities; despite this, the event was shut down.
Linda Riley, who is also the publisher of DIVA magazine, led the charge against a performer having a different opinion about something.
“My brand will not be associated with anybody who RT’s [retweets] Toby Young and Nigel Farage”, according to the Mail on Sunday.
This led to a quarrel on Twitter between Shakespeare and Riley, and the eventual demand for the closure of the event.
“For clarity, any LGBTQ event which supports the likes of these will not have my support. #proudtobeapoliticalbigot,” Riley added.
This was enough to get performers to leave the event in droves, stating that they were worried about publicity and future possibilities. In just 48 hours, more than half of the performers had backed out, leaving organizers with no choice but to cancel the event.
“As soon as Linda Riley sent that tweet, performers started dropping out like flies. Artists were contacting us apologising but said that they worried about getting gigs in the future. They were coming under pressure to pull out,” Shakespeare told the Mail on Sunday.
In the end, the performers went unheard, the attendees were left alone and the event was cancelled — all because one activist objected to an organizer’s opinion about Brexit.

To the artist. They are a bunch of cowards with no backbone. This is the difference between liberals and conservatives. We stand up and are heard. Even if it means someone will try to retaliate which is usually a lot of wind. We call the bluff. The community of LGBT should push on with the event and have their own entertainment. PS I disagree with the purpose of the event. I think the LGBT community should be quiet as I am quiet about who I am. I am a God-fearing person who holds no religion to my purpose. I respect all and let God handle the rest. Its no one’s business and I surely am not going to go around touting with a bunch of costumes looking like its Halloween.
I think that there’s something seriously wrong when people become so rigid that only one way is possible for anything!

As one who has many LGBT freinds, I feel the loss.
I think this event should somehow be re-scheduled, without the political undertones, and fear of retribution.
I’m all for equality, but I’m sick to death of the LBGQ community trying to stuff their
beliefs down our throats! How many damn Gay Pride Parades can one city have in
each month? Beside being blasted with TV commercials that subliminally push their
agenda onto us other folks and the children, who are in their formative years. I think
the whole thing has gotten out of hand. Because they were forced to be in the closet
for many years, now they’re out and annoying! It like black people being slaves in the
past ( past ) now want everyone to pay the price. Sorry, but no one in my family ever
owned slaves, back at least 6 generations ( European ) so I’m tired of that being told
as if I had a hand in it. If the truth ( truth ) be known, most blacks didn’t have slavery
in their families! I am in my 70s and remember a time when President Kennedy made
a difference, as did President Lincoln. Everything was fine, till Obama & Clinton got
everyone stirred-up and hating each other again. ( Democrats ) I could go on and on
but nothing I can say can make a difference. Just remember, “God is in full Control.”

Gee, what happened. This is usually the reverse of what happens. LGBT start screaming homophobes, bigets, etc. etc. when they demand to march in a Boston and NY city St. Patrick’s Day parade put on by the Catholic churches around the cities. First St. Patrick had nothing to do with homosexual activities, he build nunneries for women who wanted to get away from forced marriages, abusive husbands, and abusive husbands to their kids. He made deals with the men that they could keep their mistresses if they let their wives go into the churches and live their safe from the men. Almost naked LGBT men who do sex with men and hate women competing with them for men do not belong in a parade celebrating a real man who saved women from abuse in old fashion cultural political forced marriages. Homosexual men have lied to women for centuries marrying women to have children and than leaving the women after the kids got old enough to be engaged in loving their father so she had to let him share the kids while she suffered with the lies of the men. These men even today go after the boys of women in the churches and schools. It’s about time they lost something they wanted.
