With only a few days left before the Presidential election, the whole WikiLeaks/Clinton e-mails debacle has proven it has legs and will not go away no matter who is elected in November.
But is there enough time left on the election clock for the tens of thousands of hacked emails released by Julian Assange to motivate undecided voters to turn out in the numbers needed to elect Donald Trump and prevent Hillary Clinton from limping toward what may be a certain impeachment or resignation?
Trump has made it clear that if he is elected that his pick for Attorney General will be Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC). Unlike current AG Loretta Lynch, who has been a joke at that position, Gowdy is a former prosecutor who knows Constitutional law.
Gowdy’s first shot off the bow of team Clinton came in his Benghazi report where he pointed out the shortcomings of Clinton’s State Department and the Obama administration in the events that led up to the attack and the deaths of four American citizens.
In the case of Benghazi, Gowdy proved Clinton to be incompetent to hold such a position much less the presidency. The representative followed up with his schooling of FBI Director James Comey on the law and how it’s interpreted.
Though Clinton and her supporters claim Comey declared her innocent of any wrong doing—despite Comey reopening the case—they cannot escape the fact the Director deemed her careless and possible in dereliction of her duties.
Now, Clinton’s clandestine dealings have come to light from a source other than WikiLeaks. It’s no wonder Hillary Clinton has been strongly encouraging her supporters to vote early. As close as the race is, she doesn’t want undecideds to have more time to consider how corrupt she really is. If she loses, she knows she will have to face Rep. Gowdy.
On CNN’s “New Day,” journalist, CNN Commentator, and author said: “presumptive Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email conduct is indefensible. It was reckless. She has lied about it …That is why, especially after Comey, she is now baked in this perception among too many people in this country for her comfort, as a liar, as distrusted, and so we now have…an election between these two people who are disdained by most Americans. We’ve never had a situation like this before. And that’s why we’re in this scorched earth civil war, Gettysburg, whatever the analogy is. We’re in a place we’ve never been before, but what happens at the end of it is going to change our country irrevocably.”
The journalist of the famed Woodward and Bernstein Watergate team, lamented, “It is a terrible bind she is. Her people know this election is up for grabs, some of them are horrified. And what they’re horrified at, particularly old friends and supporters … who believe in her, is that she has made it possible … for Donald Trump to become the president of the United States.”
The obvious answer to this whole sad chapter of American politics is for Trump supporters to turn out in the numbers on election day that ensure Hillary Clinton never makes it to the White House.
They should cast a positive vote because Donald Trump will lead in this nation making a sorely needed course correction. And, they should cast a negative vote that slams the door on Clinton escaping the consequences of her political cronyism, hubris, and disregard for the rule of law.
But what if Clinton wins? What about impeachment?
When it comes to the thousands of emails released by WikiLeaks and this new round of emails now under FBI investigation that will not be an option. In 1873, the House of Representatives determined that Presidents cannot be impeached for offenses they committed previous to taking office. Since Clinton’s actions as Secretary of State and a private citizen would have taken place prior to her becoming President, she couldn’t be impeached for them.
In short, the Department of Justice can affect who our next President is. If they move swiftly to indict, or if Clinton believes she’s in trouble, she could drop out before November 8. But the clock’s ticking and the likelihood of anything happening before November 8th are remote at best.
The only logical answer is for Donald Trump to be elected as president. With Trey Gowdy and a Republican Congress in her future, it’s no wonder Clinton is desperate to win the election.
