It’s official — America likes Donald Trump far more than Nancy Pelosi: the anchor of her home town TV station reports that a poll conducted by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal says so.
Pelosi recently made it clear that she intends to become Speaker of the House again, when the Democrats ride that imaginary big Blue Wave in the 2018-midterm elections. The House Minority leader may want to check with KNTV, NBC‘s affiliate in San Francisco. Anchor Scott McGrew reports, “This might not be good news for Democrats. Republicans use Pelosi as a cudgel in their ads to convince people not to vote for Democrats, and they’re not wrong. We might like Nancy Pelosi in the Bay area, but America doesn’t.”
McGrew then cited the poll that noted organizations and individuals who are more popular that Pelosi.
“Things that are more popular than Nancy Pelosi include the NRA, current Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), even Donald Trump,” McGrew observed. “Among all Americans, Donald Trump is far more liked than Nancy Pelosi.” Actual poll numbers gave both Donald Trump and the NRA 37 percent, with Ms. Pelosi 21 percent.
There had been speculation that Pelosi might retire from Congress following the 2018 midterm elections, but on Tuesday, she told the Boston Globe that she will be the next speaker after Democrats retake the House.
What does her own party think of her intent to run for Speaker should they gain the majority in November? On Wednesday, Democratic strategist Joel Benenson told Chuck Todd of MSNBC that Pelosi “is not going to be the issue in this campaign going forward.” Instead, Benenson redirected focus to Republicans’ performance across the electoral range as reason enough for voters to support Democrats in November.
While no one argues that Nancy Pelosi made history when she became the first female elected Speaker of the House in 2007, that was eleven years ago, she has certainly contributed to that 21 percent ‘liked’ rating since.
Highlights of her congressional career include her famous “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it” explanation in 2010 regarding the Affordable Care Act debacle, known now collectively as Obamacare.
June 20, 2017 however, when the Republicans were working on their healthcare bill, Pelosi asserted, “Americans deserve to know what’s in the Republican healthcare bill being developed.” A month earlier, complaining about the developing bill, she said, “Do you believe in this bill? You will glow in the dark with this bill.”
On December 4, 2017 when asked if the GOP tax plan was as apocalyptic as Democrats make it out to be, Pelosi insisted it was. Ignoring the tax cut many Americans would receive, Pelosi said, “The debate on health care is life, death. This is Armageddon. This is a very big deal, because you know why? There’s really a very hard way to come back from this.” Despite the fact that she was not asked about healthcare at all, Pelosi allowed her comments to go uncorrected.
At her January 11, 2018 press briefing, a reporter asked, “A number of companies are attributing the tax bill for being able to give higher wages to their employees as well as being able to give a number of bonuses to their employees. How do you respond to that?”
Pelosi’s response has become legendary. “In terms of the bonus that corporate America received versus the crumbs they are giving their workers to kind of put the schmooze on is pathetic. It is so pathetic.”
When a Georgetown University student confronted Pelosi in April about her “crumbs” remark, she merely doubled down on the claim which multiple fact checks found grossly misleading.
When Pelosi delivered a tedious eight-hour speech to protest a budget deal that did not include DACA protection in February, even the left criticized her for being “all talk, no action.”
And in an act of desperation on April 13, 2018, Pelosi sent out a bizarre fundraising email with a subject line proclaiming special counsel Robert Mueller had been fired. Clicking on the email one discovered Mueller wasn’t fired, but Pelosi needed a massive fundraising surge. Even journalists at left-leaning sites were critical of this stunt. Garrett Haake, MSNBC Washington correspondent tweeted “Who at the DCCC thought this clickbait email subject line was a good idea?”

Pelosi recently hit up the Democrat base for campaign contributions by sending out & email claiming that Trump had FIRED Special Counsel Mueller. Spoiler alert: Pres Trump did not fire Special Counsel Mueller.
In fact, Pelosi sent her crackpot email solicitation out the day after Pres Trump tweeted that he had NO intention of firing Mueller. Way to stay up on current events there, Nancy! Pelosi told her supporters that she was so Furious, she could barely write the email. We’d suggest that she take & anger management course, but it’s more fun to just watch her flail away, isn’t it?
She then goes on to tell Democrat donors that she will drive Pres Trump from office… if only they donate as much cash as possible to her & the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
