AOC Bullies 2020 POTUS Candidates who Aren’t Far-Left Extremists

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is using every last bit of influence she has to bully Democrat presidential candidates who don’t embrace her far-left positions on issues such as Medicare for all and the Green New Deal.

The latest target of the congresswoman’s ire is former Rep. John Delaney, a little-known Democratic presidential candidate who bluntly told an audience that Medicare for All may make for good politics, but it wouldn’t make for good policy.

In a desperate effort to ensure that her comment on the matter was noticed, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez told Mr. Delaney to “sashay away” – an expression that literally means to walk away as a drag queen would.

The newbie representative hasn’t hesitated to take on well-known candidates as well as long-shot ones. She has not only told news media outlets that she would find it difficult to support former Vice-President Joe Biden should he win the nomination, but has also made it a point to praise Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s climate change plan right before former VP Joe Biden was set to release his own. The latter move could also be seen as a dig at Sen. Bernie Sanders and his proposals for addressing climate change.

It is clear that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s comments aren’t just about dissing people for the sake of doing so. She is actually trying to remake the Democratic Party into a far-left organization in the same vein as the Labour Party in the United Kingdom. In social media comments denigrating former Rep. John Delaney, she stated that there should be some “general eliminations” in who runs for president. While it is true that there are currently two dozen Democrats running for the presidency and a few of them could stand to step down, the idea that people should be eliminated due to their stance on various issues should be considered abhorrent by anyone who likes democracy as a general concept.

Kicking out candidates who do not embrace far-left policies and/or who make realistic rather than pie-in-the-sky proposals isn’t going to solve important problems such as providing adequate healthcare for Americans, and addressing climate change-related disasters.

While Rep. Ocasio-Cortez seems to be great at dishing out insults to people she doesn’t like, she isn’t all that good at providing fact-based information to support her arguments. Even a quick look at her tweets shows that she is content to simply state her opinion on a matter and then tell someone who disagrees with her to “go away.”

Former Rep. John Delaney, on the other hand, had the maturity to offer to debate Rep. Ocasio-Cortez at any time and venue of her choosing. However, it’s hard to see the freshman congresswoman accepting an offer to get hammered by a veteran politician who knows the difference between policy and idealism.

It is a sad fact that a freshman congresswoman who isn’t even thirty years old has the power to sway an election simply because ignorant liberal voters think of her as a rock star.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s recent comments make it clear that she and her progressive counterparts aren’t interested in debating. They want to shove their own point of view down everyone’s throats, and bully those who don’t agree with them. Ironically, their desperate desire to remake the Democratic Party is more likely to destroy it than help to improve it.
