Kamala Harris Wants VP Mike Pence “Brought Before Congress”

Most Democrats are hungrily eyeing President Donald Trump as they attempt to push through an impeachment inquiry just before the November elections, but one is looking even further ahead. California Democrat Kamala Harris is eagerly looking far, far ahead, mentioning her plans for Vice President Mike Pence in a recent interview.

It’s not yet time for the presidential election — we have more than a year to go — but Democrats like Kamala Harris are jockeying for position and doing anything they can to pander to Trump haters and those who despise the GOP. No other candidate or politician — or news outlet — has floated the idea of chasing down VP Pence to look for wrong-doings, but that didn’t stop Harris.

Speaking with the hosts of MSNBC’s Hardball program, Harris shared her thoughts on the Vice President. She stated Mike Pence “should be brought before the United States Congress” to testify and went on to say that he “has a lot to answer to.”

“The vice president has a lot to answer to. And he also should be brought before the United States Congress to speak about what exactly was his involvement and what if any solicitations were made by the president to have the vice president engage in unethical conduct and potentially illegal conduct,” she said.

Harris is the first to raise any question at all about Pence and his integrity, and seems to have floated this idea to see if it would stick — or to see if other politicians and media would pick up on it.

Harris’ remarks about Mike Pence are about more than maligning his reputation and pandering to progressives. She is looking ahead to the next target. If President Donald Trump does fall under impeachment, Pence would be in the hot seat. In their fervor to find any potential reason to launch impeachment proceedings, many progressives have overlooked this. Some seem to think that an impeachment would be a reversal of the election — and put Hillary Clinton into office. This is not the case; if President Trump were to be impeached, Mike Pence would be next in line for the Oval Office.

By pointing fingers at Mike Pence this early, Kamala Harris revealed just how far and deep the fervor for impeachment goes, and what would be up next if the current president were to be removed from office. According to Politico, a Pence presidency or even a Pence candidacy would have a considerable impact on the way the race would be run, and on the potential strategies for whichever of the multitude of Democratic candidates comes out on top.

Harris’ recent comments seem to reflect that concern and raise questions about Pence before he could become a threat.
